Gilbert yawned and stood up, giving his brother a small smile as he too rose, and took a few more berries from the bush. After a small afternoon meal made of the berries and a piece of old, dry bread that they had found a few days ago they were on their way again. It was still pretty warm outside, but the air felt chilly now and then, reminding them that it would soon be fall, and that they would have to find a place to stay if they didn't want to freeze to death.

Especially not when neither of them had slept for more than two hours, or had eaten anything more than a few apples the last twenty four hours. The fourteen year old blond finally started to open his eyes and Gilbert sighed from relief. His brother had been ill during the three weeks since they ran away from the orphanage, and although he didn't want his brother to know it, he was really worried. Even though it was summer it had already started to get cold, and the autumn was just around the corner.
